Our aim is to introduce people to the enjoyment and benefits of swimming like a mermaid or merman with a mermaid tail and monofin. We also want swimmers to understand the safety aspects and feel confident in a controlled environment. With a CIMSPA endorsed MermaidsUK instructor who is also a Level 2 swimming teacher, we want all mermaid swimmers to be given the best instruction and to understand their movement in the water, as well as having fun and experiencing the magic of being a mermaid or merman. Sessions will include safety skills and basic mermaid movements with the aim to progress into advanced movements and eventually doing partner work and routines.

Tail and monofin hire is included in the sessions.

The Swim Test:

All swimmers must pass the swim test before joining the mermaid sessions.

The criteria are:

• Be at least 6 years old
• Swim 25 metres comfortably
• Submerge face fully without holding anything
• Lift knees and turn 360 degrees
• Tread water in shallow and deep water

Demonstrate undulating dolphin kick with face in for a minimum of 5 metres
